Nagasaki Road Trip, City Visit

We spent a few hours at the Matsuno household, where Grandma Chieko grew up. This picture encapsulates an afternoon gathering in Japan: Everyone is sitting or kneeling on the tatami floor, around a knee-high table filled with tea, coffee, fruit, and other snacks. Three of the four siblings in Chieko`s family were here, all of whom attended our wedding in Kumamoto four years ago. They loved catching up with us, and especially with Hiroki, who gets along well with all manner of pets. Here he is with great Aunt Sachiko, who lives in this house, and their dog Ralph.

Michiyo`s cousin Yoshie had a girl, Manami, four days before this picture was taken.

Michiyo, are we ready for another one yet?
