Lynn's Unbelievable Wedding!!!
My older sister Lynn married Rob on Saturday night, and the whole day is now the latest, greatest wedding and reception ever; I say that seriously. Between the Rehearsal dinner Friday night at Sameem, an Afghani restaurant on South Grand, the good fortune of no rain (given a little humidity), and the aligned efforts of dozens of family and friends, the entire event was an incredible success. In only five months, Hiroki has attended two weddings, with one coming up Saturday, and we are all ready impressed with his willingness to stay up and party. Here are a few highlights.
Mommy Michiyo looked stunning as usual, and dressed Hiroki in a yukata (Japanese summer kimono).
Rob (the groom) gave the wedding party hats that he is partial to, and we all happily wore them to the ceremony. Hiro and Mommy felt that I wore it well.
Hiro is a hit with the ladies, and here he enjoys the company of three of the prettiest women at the event: Mommy Michiyo, of course, along with his tall Aunt Lynn, the bride, and Christina, Mark's boo.
While Biggie was bumping on the dance floor, Mom and Hiroki were kicked.
Lynn gives a final salute to the tired twosome. Congratulations, LMF, we love you!

Some of the best
4-25-08
For his first few months, Hiroki slept like this. He would curl his entire body up into a ball against Mommy's chest. Michiyo moved him away a few inches to provide a good view of his body angle. He would go to sleep like this until about three months old or so; now sometimes, he'll burrow his head into the nook of Michiyo's arm, just below her armpit, and other times he'll still sleep like this. 5-24-08 Andy and Jill's wedding
My cousin Andy got married, and his wife Jill and he arranged to have a photo booth at their reception. This accessory was a remarkable addition to the evening, and lots of our family and friends made many trips inside to take both happy and fun photos. This shot, with Hiroki just beginning to bestow smiles onto us, is one of the best photos of the three of us in his first three months.
5-28-08 100 Days of Hiroki
In Japan, a baby's first 100 days are cause for a celebration, and a nice feast is prepared for the occasion. Michiyo whipped up a visually amazing and delicious meal, which we held in the backyard of our house. We cannot get enough of our boy's smile!
5-18-08 Papa Joe's Containers
Besides overflowing breast pockets with cheat sheets and pens, one of my favorite introductions to Hiroki came the day my Dad was cleaning some of his legendary plastic containers on the front yard. Perhaps no moment captures the pride of a Grandpa sharing some of his most treasured possessions to his Grandson. Several notes on this picture:
1) Hiroki's confused face mirrors most of our own reactions when confronted with Papa Joe's containers;
2) Only viewing this photo now, some two months later, do I notice that the containers are in relatively neat rows, and why not?
